Client:
Driver tracking, reporting and training software provider for some of the largest pizza delivery chains in the U.S.
Problem:
Drivers feared this "big brother" technology, saw no benefit and pushed back on adoption.
Solution:
Two-pronged approach:
1. Build driver-centric values by engaging drivers directly — Curated a driver-only Facebook group where delivery drivers could swap tips, tricks, experiences, and expert advice
2. Gamify driver experience — Partnered with customer franchise to launch a store v. store competition using delivery driver success metrics to provide driver incentives, rewards, and recognition while fundraising for a third-party partner well-known in the franchisee space
Results:
About 30% into the competition, the drivers' outlook on the client changed so drastically, and recognition and reach spread so rapidly that (for the first time in the client's history) drivers began reaching out asking how they could get the client involved in their stores.
Despite starting at 0 and facing challenges with user apprehension, the Facebook group today is now at nearly 930 members.
